Forum Need to execute scheduled MySQL statement
 

First of all, thanks in advance to anyone who is willing to help!! :up:

Here's the bottom line: I have tried to use the promotions system to accommodate how we run our board, but it just won't work. The promotions don't run in any sort of dependable order and do not allow for the kinds of criteria that we require. Here's the breakdown of how it SHOULD work:

1. User registers
2. User is moderated into Registered Users group (2)
3. User is promoted into a 30-Day trial group (63)
4. After 30 days, user goes back to Registered Users group (2)

Since the promotion system lacks the ability to set a "between" or a "less than" for promotions on join date, then you would literally have to move all 10,000+ registered users TO the trial users group and then move them FROM the trial back into registered users. It's a terribly inefficient way of doing it AND with the way the promotion scheduler works, it runs them on top of one another and the results are random and unpredictable.

SO...the solution is to do the first half of the whole thing manually. I HATE that it has to be done this way, but it just does.

Can someone please tell me how to get the system to run this MySQL statement every hour or two?
