Cloud hosting v's dedicated server for busy VB community? Hey peeps, I'm always keen to keep ahead of the game when it comes to server performance and as my online community is expanding quickly, I'm again looking to upgrade my server. My dilemma however is whether to stick with a dedicated server, but beef up the hardware, or try out cloud hosting, such as that offered by Mosso. Has anyone got any experience of Mosso cloud hosting? It sounds very scaleable and dynamic... but is it really as good as it sounds? The Mosso support staff seem to think cloud hosting will be the future, replacing typical dedicated servers. I think I'm a little old skool and cant come to terms with going 'virtual'. It would certainly help if someone could say clearly its worked out for them, or its not! I all game for testing it out, but I have a pretty big site to move over, then move back if it doesn't work out!? My current dedicated host has served me well, but my server is a couple of years old. It's time for an upgrade. So, if you have any info you can share about cloud hosting, or simply recommend a dedicated server host you are fully happy with for a busy (400+ users online) VB community, please give me your advice. PS, my site doesn't just host a VB forum, it has thousands of photos, static content and videos, etc too. Thanks. |
