Intermittent 'Can't connect to MySQL server' errors in MySQL & MySQLi
 

Hi guys-

I've been spending a lot of time looking through the various threads here and trying everything I can, but I can't resolve what is a relatively small error that I'm having after having moved servers and fully upgraded (full clean installs) with the same hosting company. About ten times a day, random pages (in no particular spot on the site) failed to load and I got the following emailed error:

I then changed over to MySQLi, and I'm getting the same thing with a similar connection error message:

Other than this happening very randomly and relatively infrequently, the site works perfectly, so I'm assuming that I have all of the correct login details for MySQL set in php.ini and in config.php.

I really don't know where to go next, and so your help and guidance with this would be hugely appreciated!
