The final communiqué for today’s massive opposition rally at the west of Manama

“People are decision-makers and they own the sovereignty”


Opposition societies in Bahrain underlined that democratic transition is the only option that can resolve the current political crisis.

“All false and misleading attempts to produce pseudo exits or incomplete solutions will ultimate fail. Our people will not be fooled by media lies, fabrications or minor constitutional amendments.’

The opposition emphasized that the astute awareness of the Bahraini masses has defeated all those attempts to bypass their demands, since the pro-democracy movement was sparked 15 months ago.

“Retreat is no longer in our vocabulary. People must be the source of all powers and elect the government, or else the popular momentum will continue and not cool down.”

“The recommendations of the United Nations Universal Periodic Review, added with the BICI report and so many other calls regarding human rights and political reform are standing in the age-old waiting queue of the government, with no serious implementations.” The opposition said.

“These recommendations include a serious and effective dialogue that is capable of moving Bahrain to a real democracy, justice, equality and human development. Realistically, this unelected government is ineligible to realize these demands, as it is itself responsible for all human rights violations, suppression and corruption.”

The opposition affirmed that “the sovereignty and independence of Bahrain is not up for discussion, as the people of Bahrain own the highest decision making legitimacy on both. This raises the unquestionable need for the people to be the source of all powers, governing their valuable soil and managing their natural resources. The right of self-governance and decision making must be granted to the people through democratic mechanisms as per international standards.
