Avatar revisions
 

Why is it necessary to track the revisions of the avatars?
Some users on my forum are up to 26. So their avatar image is for example 12452_26.gif

Why are revisions stored if the older avatars are NOT stored?

It would be so much easier to just link to 12452.gif.
Instead, the avatar revision has to be queried, too.
I don't understand why this is necessary.
