Bahrain's rulers split over fate of rights activist

The Bahraini royal family is divided over whether to free a jailed human rights leader, Abdulhadi al-Khawaja, who has been on hunger strike for more than 60 days. A Bahraini source said yesterday: "They were going to release him three weeks ago but this was vetoed by hardliners in the family."
