Upgrading vB3.5 to 3.8, Eva's Upgrade - from root to /forums?
 

Hi all,

I have a very old version of vBulletin...and I finally have the nerve to take the plunge to do the full shebang of an upgrade to the latest version of vBulletin. I've held off because my forum has had it's templates severely hacked and changed.

I'd also like to move the forum from the root to /forums so that I'll be able to do some different things with portals, etc.

So my question is this: Can I follow Eva's Upgrade process transferring everything from the forum root to the new /forums folder, backup and restore to a new database, complete the upgrade, close the old site, and just open up the new forum?

I assume that if I do this, I might lose all my search rankings and mess up some things as far as links, etc?

I don't mind losing my template hacks, I'm just going to rebuild the entire forum from the ground up, the right way, using only plug-ins and products. I was new when I started but I'm much more knowledgeable now, so I certainly feel comfortable!

And a little disclaimer, yes, only one forum will be activated at a time so as not to violate the licensing agreement. Thanks!
