The Saudi-led intervention in Bahrain, where the Sunni regime has sought to crush a Shia popular uprising, put Baghdad at odds with the Sunni powers in the Gulf, and was vigorously denounced by Iraqi politicians. On Syria policy too, positions have diverged.
