utf8 table conversion
 

my sysadmin has suggested converting all tables to utf8 - my forum has 4.2m posts with 40k members - vB 3.8.2, php 5.2.8, mySQL 5.0.45

are there any speed advantages to such a conversion?

is there a recommended process to follow/specific script to run?
