Deny a Country IP address? Can you do groups of IP's? I've been reading up on how to deny a country with the IP addresses but I have some questions. Please post something ever if you just know one answer... 1. Since the Web is just like a spider web, if I ban a country what will happen if the user is routed to the foreign website somehow? Example, I can look at my Yahoo email account and see that when someone in the next state to me sends me a email it might happen to go to England, or another foreign country before it gets to me. The email doesn't take the shortest route (from a Colorado server to a Kansas server), but the quickest route (Colorado, to England, to Kansas). So suppose England was on my ban list, does the user get transferred to another server? (Man, this one is hard to explain..I hope you guys understand) 2. Lets say I'm trying to ban YEMEN (YE), so the IP addresses for that country is: (http://www.ipdeny.com/ipblocks/) 82.114.160.0/1989.189.64.0/19195.94.0.0/19 So, to do this country do I go ACP>Vbulletin Options>Vbulletin Options>User Banning Options>Banned IP addresses and enter 82.114.160.0/19 (which is that group of numbers) or do I have to list them seperately, by saying 82.114.160.0, 82.114.160.1, 82.114.160.2...ect? 3. If listing the IP seperately, I understand not to place them on seperate lines? Correct? (ie just one space between the IP's) 4. Lastly, my host allows me to ban IP address there. Is there any benefit to banning IP address on Vbulletin compared to the Host? Man this thread is so hard to explain. I hope you guys understand.... |
