Forums completely cancell out the "forum listing" page... currently, the 'index.php' or equivalent in vbulletin shows a list of different forums that live inside your board, but say you just wanted to run a single off topic discussion forum without the need for loads of different sub-forums, or you wanted to use the social group feature (young but a lot of potential) as a way for your members to have more specific in depth discussions, there should be an option for you to toggle a specific forum to load as your index page instead so basically, an actual forum would be the very front page of your vbulletin, instead of the current 'forumhome' layout of categories and forums. i know you could currently do this by just linking to a forum from your site but its clumsy and inconvenient and the breadcrumbs would be disorganized. i know a lot of owners of established forums will see this as an unneeded feature that would waste precious coding time but a lot of new forums that are minimalistic and trying to piggyback off the success of simple forum layouts such as 4chan will see this as a welcome feature. it also has the potential to become much more advanced with the introduction of realtime updates through ajax and the like please consider this vbulletin, it would be a very simple implementation and i am 100% sure it would be appreciated by a lot of sites |
