slow performance until "mark all posts read" is clicked
 

Hi,

I can understand the 'new posts' taking a performance hit when someone does not mark all posts read for a while. But I didn't expect that to impact overall board performance. After clicking 'mark all posts read' on my forum the site wide forum performance increases dramatically not just new post queries. Any ideas why this is and how I can make site wide performance always as good as it is after clicking mark posts read?
