Database connection help if possible
 

Hi guys. I'd very much appreciate it if you can help me here. I have asked my host to pinpoint the cause/source of the error, but they haven't been able to do so.

At least once a week I am getting this error,

mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock'

I have to restart the MySQL service from WHM/CPanel whenever this happens. I am getting literally hundreds of emails sent to my inbox telling me "VBulletin Database Error!".

I have read this: http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/cantconnect ... but I am not an expert in computers so I don't really understand it.

I only have a thousand members, and on average, the number of active/current users online at any given time is usually around ten to twenty.

I have researched dozens of forums and websites to see what I can do to resolve this, changing my settings in my.cnf, I even upgraded my VPS, but still the errors keep coming. I am at a loss as to how I am getting these errors when I hardly have any users, yet I'm on a (relatively) powerful VPS.
