Mr. Pisor had a right to buy out his equity partner, Arcapita Inc., a Bahrain-based investment group, which wanted to cash out. But he couldn't find a new partner, so Arcapita solicited bids for the hotel, picking Mr. Zell a couple of weeks ago.
