Cannot connect to SQL when installing Vbulletin
 

Hi all

I am trying to install vb, everything seems to be ok until I install.

Attempting to attach to database
Error description: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/tmp/mysql5.sock:3316' (2) /homepages/42/d253978971/htdocs/forum/includes/class_core.php on line 311
The database has failed to connect because you do not have permission to connect to the server. Please confirm the values entered in the 'includes/config.php' file.


The information in the config file is correct. However my port is 3316 instead of 3306, my hostname is 'localhost:/tmp/mysql5.sock' instead of 'localhost'. I am using MySQL5.0.

I have tried everything I can think of to sort this problem. I even set up a new database, which made no difference at all.


Any help would be gratefully appreciated.
