Some newbie installation questions

hopefully you'll be able to help me out.

1) How do I install my forums to : http://forums.sitename.com instead of sitename.com/forums ?

2) Is it possible to redirect people who enter sitename.com to forums.sitename.com until I figure out what to put on the homepage?
