Suite Drop Post Index Before Upgrading
 

My postindex has about 50m entries in it and is 1GB. Is it posible to drop the index before upgrade? My upgrade will conincide with a server move and detween the mysqldump to create the backup and the mysqldump to import the database on the new box, the process will take a handful of hours. If I can drop the postindex prior to backup and restore I think the process will be 2-3 hours instead of 6-8.

What are the ramifications of doing it this way? Any better recommendations to do a server move / upgrade?
