templates and variables
 

Ok Its been a while I've done nothing about my forums.
Now I turned back and trying to remember everything. But I'm lost this time.

Forums version is 3.8.1 and another 3.8.4 test forum. There was a time the code I added was working. maybe 3.7.x versions. I don't remember. None reported that its gone missing. I don't know when and how it broke. I'm trying to fix it but something basic is wrong.
Here is the basic code I can not make it work:

a plug in at hook location: global_setup_complete

What expect is to see xxxxx but i get it empty.
What I get is something in vB system changed or I'm missing something very silly
