CMS N00b Q: Putting static text into a page layout column
 

On my home page, I have three columns.

The center column has a video widget,
The right column has "recent posts" and "sections" widget.

I'm simply trying to put a few paragraphs of text in the first/left column.

I'm able to add an article, but it's not what I'm looking for. I simply want the left column to be filled with some basic text.



This must be easy and i'm just missing something. Thanks in advance.
