CMS HOW DO I: Add Firends, Albums, other to Homepage via Widgets
 

I inherited our vB site and am pretty new to it but have some immediate requirements so any help is greatly appreciated.

I want to create a widget to display albums, a widget to display friends, a widget to display groups (member of/join).

Can this be done with widgets? If so, which is the best way to do it? Are there any detailed docs on how to build custom widgets?

BTW - I'm a .net developer and don't really have any PHP experience - if that matters.
