CMS Removing Blank areas in the Header
 

I am sure this is some simple coding fix, but I can not make this work no matter what I have tried to date. All I am really looking to do is put a small banner ad under the welcome, username , notification link area.

Although I have done this multiple times it shows up in the wrong spot. Either actually hidden behind those links or leaving a gap shown in the image I attached. Note also the gap to the left of that under my logo image.

What code or whatever am I not using properly to get that dang thing aligned so there are no gaps of blank space there?

I appreciate anyone's help with this. Thanks .
