Does "Mega Exploit in 3.8.6" only impact 3.8.6?

I would have liked to have asked this question in this thread but it's been closed. I apologize for bringing up a topic that was meant to be shut down, but I've put years into building up my communities so I hope you can understand my concern and need to get clarification.

Can a member of the staff please confirm that the issue is only applicable to version 3.8.6 and that no such issue exists for versions 3.8.5 and lower? No definitive answer was provided by a member of the staff before the thread was closed.
