Forum Attachment DB Table Too Large...???
 

Hi, I'm currently trying to upgrade from 3.8 to 4 however I want the old installation intact so Ive copied the forum directory from /forum/ to /forum.old/ uploaded vb4 to /forum/ and linked it to the 3.8 database.

however when i run through the upgrade it always breaks when updating the tables as the attachments table is 1.4GB it just times out half way through.

I've also tried dumping the sql db and re-importing it. but again its 1.4gb minimum so not seeming possible....

So is there a correct way to either clean the attachments out keeping for instance last 2 months of attachments. or importing it all after. or what?

any tips would be useful
