Great build! I have not considered VB before as I always tried to piece together a CMS. I use pligg at this time because my main theme is user driven articles. problem is there is no forum or blogs so i try to pass it off as an all in one.

can articles be opened up to all users?(and have a user section so main articles can be on top) can articles be auto posted to a facebook fan page?
