Forum spiders
 

When I look at who's online, sometimes there are listed under users something called spiders, like yahoo! slurp spider or MSN Bot Spider

Why are they listed as a user if they never registered, and not as guest? If they are listed as if that is their user name, can they access private forums? How can I prevent them?
