منتدى استراحات زايد - Nokia Q1 results are out, looking good but Symbian^3 gets delayed

Nokia announced today their financial results for the first quarter of the year. The good news is that they've got their revenue and profit higher than last year's and they're pushing 50% more smartphones than the same period last year.

And yes, there's bad news as well. As part of the results release, Nokia announced that the upcoming Symbian ^3 OS will be delayed for the second half of the year - though technically, the first device announcements are expected in the first half. Did anybody say Nokia N8-00?

But back to the financial results, Nokia scored revenue of 9.52 billion euro, which is 3% more than Q1 2009. The operating profit reached 488 million euro, which is quite an achievement compared again to the 55 million from the Q1 2009.

Nokia smartphone sales have also jumped almost twice, but the average price for a smartphone dropped with 35 euro down to 155 euro. Despite that, Nokia sold more than 107.8 million phones for the last three months - 16% more than the first quarter last year.

It seems Nokia are doing just fine. If only they did better with the Symbian^3. We hope they are not late on Symbian^4 as well. The first MeeGo device is still planned for launch in the second half of this year - most probably for the holiday season.
