Forum vB 3.8.4 PL2 > 4.0.3 - Crashed User Table - Large forum

We spent over 13 hours trying to upgrade this installation.

What we did:
  • Moved all attachments from the database to the file system (Total: 31,500+)
  • Disabled all plugins globally in 3.8.4 and also in 4.0.3 Config.php file.
  • Disabled all plugins and Products, apart from vBlog.
  • Checked no PHP acceleration was setup.
  • Checked that no CSS styles were setup in the file system (some cause the installer to fail)
  • Database was backed up before attachments were moved to file system.
  • Database was also backed after attachments were moved to file system.
  • File system backed up numerous times.
  • All backups were done via SSH.
Even with all these precautions taken, the upgrade kept crashing on the attachment moving, so we moved all attachments from the database, freeing up 1.2Gb on the database.
After 4 failed attempts I finally got the installer running past the attachment changing.
The last attempted upgrade went fine, no issues detected, and finally prompted to remove the install/install.php file. At this point I thought everything was fine, until I went to login as an administrator, but permissions were limited. I then edited the config.php file and changed the Super Administrators permissions per user.

This brought back normal Administrator permissions, however when I checked the database to see why the user account I was initially in was only giving limited permissions, I found the user table had 'crashed'. A check revealed no issues, using phpMyAdmin -however, I ran a single check on the user table only, and found the table had crashed during the upgrade at some point.

Is there anything that I can do without running the upgrade again, which took along time and many attempts because of the attachments. Is 3.5 hours standard for an upgrade of this type, or did something else happen that we have missed.

Regards,
