I noticed that the Skype icons never actually showed 'online', even when I knew I was online.

I searched and found this thread (in the beta forum), but it was unanswered.

A little bit of digging and I found out that for the icon to actually show your status, you have o modify the privacy setting in your Skype client to "Allow my online status to be shown on the web"

The status icon now shows correctly.
