some purchase questions
 

a disagreement between the previous owner of my forum resulted in him owning the domain name and me owning the database and files. i have registered a new domain name and set up the servers.

at this point, the forum does not accept logins so i cannot access the admincp.

is this because i need to purchase a new license?
can i purchase one specifically for the version i am running?
before i invest in the license, obviously i want to make sure doing so will return the forum to full function.
