Suite Documenting what is involved to host vBulletin 4.0 on a Windows 2008 - best practices
 

Greetings.

The purpose of this thread is to document and create a best practice guide on how to host vBulletin 4.0 on a Windows 2008 server. It's an offshoot of the thread here, that was asking about whether to host on a Unix or Windows environment:

The intent isn't to get into a big debate, please leave that discussion on another thread. It's to get into some details on how to make the most out of your vBulletin 4.0 installation on Windows 2008, if that's the route you choose to go.

I am just getting into this myself and am no expert, so I am hoping that deuterium and others can expand on this discussion.

There is no good documentation, but, http://php.iis.net and http://www.mysql.com . Download and run Web PI, upgrade to PHP 5.3 (VC9), install MySQL as developer instance, and it just works :)

Just my other 2C - I'm currently in the process of building a datastore for vB using Memcache, to be released over at vBulletin.org when ready. This is built on WinCache's new APIs.
