Free access to health service is a right guaranteed by all international conventions and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which means respect for human rights, which include the right to life, dignity, humanity, and to be treated with respect, without discrimination because of race, color, sex, creed or political affiliation. These are the basic important elements of the nursing profession. Quality of nursing care should be provided given to all who need the nursing services and not to be affected regardless of nationality, race and belief, color, age, gender and the political system or social development. What did Mr. Ibrahim Damstani Secretary General of the Bahrain Nursing Society do when a young bleeding man came to his door at home during the night asking him for his help since he is known as a nurse in his community? He bandaged his wounds and asked him to go to the hospital because he can not do more then that. Mr. Ebrahim al-demistani provided nursing care no matter what the situations is. He did what he is supposed to do! He did what the ethics of nursing is all about. He bandaged wounds to a pleading young man at his house door. Our colleagues did this with all respect to humanity and confidentiality which what the nursing profession is all about. Is this a sin? Is this how we treat nurses now days in Bahrain? For saving lives at your door steps in the middle of the night?

In the name of the Bahraini Nursing Society and its members express our deep regret and dismay and condemnation of what the prosecutors has done by arresting the nurse, he performed his humanitarian aide and provided nursing care and committed to professional secrecy and asked the patient to go to hospital for treatment.

This action is contrary to human rights and humans and international bylaws for nurses. We therefore ask the Public Prosecutor for the immediate release of our colleague Ibrahim Damstani Secretary General of the Bahrain Nursing Society without any requirement because all he's done is by virtue of his nursing profession. We also call upon all civil society organizations and human rights organizations to stand by our colleague and officials demanding the immediate release of our colleague and if there is any error that may be committed by imprisoned colleague deserves This is an explicit invitation from the prosecution of all health workers not to applied health service to the needy, but after the investigation to make sure that our patients did not violate the law, according to prosecutors and this undermines all the humanitarian principles of health
professionals.
