confusion in terminology for a newbie
 

Hi

Im trying to purchase a forum software but the terminology is a bit confusing as I am a newbie into forum software.

I want to host a forum like for example http://e46fanatics.com/ for a totally unrelated subject. However the structure would be almost the same. Where you can have many different topics like whats listed under 'forums' and within each topic you would have multiple threads. So when ever a need arises I would create a new 'forum' so members can then create new threads. Hence there should not be any restriction on the number of new 'forums' I should be able to create. At the least I should be able to create a minimum of about 300 of them.

What would be the cost involved and what should I be buying exactly? Could you kindly elaborate ? Specially the licensing is confusing. For example; is http://e46fanatics.com/ considered 1 forum and hence 1 license or has it got multiple forums each of which is listed here http://forum.e46fanatics.com/ and paid for as a separate license?

Hope you can help and enlighten me a bit so I can go ahead any purchase what I need asap.
