Previous License is now worthless? I have been with V Bulletin for a few years now and some time ago I decided to save money and purchase a license. Yesterday I get an e-mail from V Bulletin telling me in other words that they just decided to render those contracts and licenses worthless and that I have 4 weeks to either dump my script or purchase another license.. I have been one that has always, always spoke out for V Bulletin and I have also talked so many of my clients into using this script. I just sort of feel really bad that a change like this could occur without any consideration at all to those of us that bought our copy. I did hear that some kind of a discount was offered some time ago for license holders but I never heard about it up until now and I was just shocked when I read that e-mail. I am seriously concidering switching and having many of my clients do the same. I am just wondering a couple things before I make this decision and believe me this is very hard. #1 - Is there any incentive for previous license holders? #2 - Am I the only one upset by this? #3 - I am no attorney but I was under the impression that I was under a contract and so was VBulletin which meant that I had to pay a certain fee every year if I wanted to continue getting updates etc.. if I decided to change or back out on this contract I wonder how VBulletin would have handled it? #4 - Is there someone new running VBulletin or is there some major change in management because I honestly never thought VBulletin would treat loyal customers this way. I know that many people have no choice but to stay with VBulletin and maybe that was taken into consideration. I may even fall under this category but before I throw out my license and spend another $200 I want my voice to be heard on this. This just isn't right and it isn't fair. Yes I believe VBulletin is the best forum script out there I absolutely love many of the people associated with the script. That is why this kills me.. So what you think? Should I bight my lip and pay the money and hope that in another couple years they don't decide to change again or what? I would appreciate some wise words of wisdom here. I have less than 4 weeks to decide and also come up with this money during one of my leanest months. I just wish I knew this was coming. Thanks all and no offense intended to those of you that have no say in policy.. Webdevoman |
