How important is it to turn "magic_quotes_gpc" off?
 

My host is not willing to turn magic_quotes_gpc off for the whole server, but suggests I use a custom php.ini file in the folder of the add-on domain where I want the install VB4.
From previous experience I know that does not work too well, unless you put a php.ini file in EVERY folder of the add-on domain.
So I would like to avoid having a custom php.ini file.
How important is it that magic_quotes_gpc are off?
