Forum we need Step by Step - how to change the StatusIocn
 

There are so many topics about how to (try) change the StatusIocns - but I can not figure out once and for all how to change the icons.
Each user gives another suggestion ... My question is: How do I put the old icons from 3.8V.
What I did until now:
I opened a new TAMPLATE
I changed the folder icons from "STATUSICONS" to "STATUSICONS/my_old_icons"
I put the old files (GIF) in the "my_old_icons" folder

And it's not working because:
1. The names of the files is not the same as version 4 AND
2. Different file extension (GIF) (so i cant just rename the files)
3. The size of the files (not 42X42 pixels). And not 30X30 - But for example 25X32.

How fit the width and height - and not just one of them
Please help me - I need help of step by step
I'm sure that users should have to complete this subject in the future - even if someone administration can help answer this question - it would be greate
