Forum Parsing template error?
 

Today, in working to migrate our applications to work with vB4, I ran across something that looks like a bug but wanted to see if anyone else has run across anything like this.

In my testing I installed a clean copy of vB4.0.1 then did the following:

1. AdminCP >> Styles & Templates >> Add a Template
2. Name the template "bugtest"
3. For the body of bugtest copy the following:

4. Save the template and you will get the following error:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ';' in /Users/mferguson/Sites/vb4clean/includes/adminfunctions_template.php(4667) : eval()'d code on line 5

This is likely caused by a malformed conditional statement. It is highly recommended that you fix this error before continuing, but you may continue as-is if you wish.

5. Click Go Back and change the body to the following:

5. Save the template and it will save successfully.

The only difference as the // on the line immediately before the variable definition.

Any insight into this issue, workarounds, etc. would be appreciated. Given that some of our products include javascript functions that are just relative to the body of the template we would prefer to leave the function definitions inline. That said its also not efficient to have to put // before each line contained in a given function.
