Forum Slowing to Nearly a Halt
 

I am running v 3.8.4 and the forum is on a dedicated server. The number of users online (< 200) does not seem high enough to slow down the board the way it has been lately.

I don't know if this is the problem, but I ran the the "rebuild similar threads" utility this weekend and tried to kill it after it rans for several hours. Now, for the last two days, I am having performance issues.

I am not very knowledgeable with the back end stuff, but my web hosting tech said there appears to be dozens of processes running. I can see them, but it actually sounded "normal" to me since there are members on the board, but I don't know for sure what it means. The strange thing is that sometimes I check, and there are dozens of processes showing, and then there will be just one (mysql). A little later a bunch more, etc.

All I know is that members are experiencing slow responses and some times error pages or time outs.

Any suggestions or ideas?
