Shut down vbulletin during a backup?
 

I have a nicely working backup script that does a database dump and rsyncs everything. But the server loads shoot up when i'm doing a backup.

I'm wondering if there is anyway to actually shut down vbulletin from a command line operation in unix so the forum is offline while i'm doing the backup?
