Forum 3.5.3 to 4.0 gold help needed...
 

Here's where I am at:
1) I have an old site running with 3.5.3, site is now very unstable, appears to have some hardware problems or something on the box. Going to drop the host as soon as I get the forum moved over.
2) I have a new host that I am moving to, just installed 4.0 fresh and all seems to be working great.
3) I have a backup file from the 3.5.3 server named whatever_backup.sql that I have now stored on my new server via ftp.

My question, can I successfully import this old back up file into 4.0 or do I need to take a different approach?

I am unsure if I can get any files off the old site - seems to be down a majority of the time.

I am extremely new to this and really need a step by step answer. The more I read on the forum here, the more confused I get (sorry). Any help would be greatly appreciated.
