Forum Please help: Changing user permissions NOT overiding default usergroup permissions
 

I am trying to set up at many of my forums as one-on-one dialogues between myself and individual customers. For their usergroup, I have as default that they have no access to any forum; then as I set up test new users, I firstly create a forum for them, and then try to grant access using individual permissions by selecting "Yes". Although the message on the Edit Access Maskspage says

"Selecting "Yes" will allow the user access to the forum. Selecting "No" will deny the user access to the forum. Any changes made to one user's account will override the default permission settings in their usergroup."

in practice it seems that the usergroup settings continue to prevent the user having access to the froum to which I have granted individual permission for access.

Can anyone assist please?
