*Please?* An Open Letter to vBulletin Staff. I hope this is in the correct place. If not* my apologies. To whom it may concern* In just under a month* my current license will expire. I would very much like to renew it. However... I* like many others I'm sure* run a small* non-revenue producing* project forum. As such* the price to upgrade to vB4 cannot be justified for me. Nor can the major retooling of the site that would be required were I to do so. That in and of itself is fine. As much as I like the direction being taken with vB4* I am more than happy to maintain my site on the vB3 platform as I am quite fond of it as well. ;) But why is there no option to maintain a vB3 license until the series reaches EOL? If I must* and I must* continue on with a vB3 board* why is it that I cannot be assured the zenith of the software I have paid for (to the tune of $280 if I'm not mistaken) without paying the price for software I do not intend to use? I would be more than happy to pay the update price I had expected to pay this year ($60 I believe) to continue upgrading my vB3 board until such time as it's discontinued. Moreover* such an agreement would enable continued access to official modification sites. Allowing continued support for mods both installed & submitted. Not to mention that should I choose to build a commercial site in the future (highly likely)* such a consideration on your part would certainly influence my choice of software providers. I thank you for your time & consideration. |
