localhost cookie?
 

I'm using a backup of my 3.8 vB from my main site for an upgrade locally* all installed and working locally* using latest XAMP* disabled error messages for php5.3+ (just to get it installed) - but i cannot log in* I've set everything i can find from my main site to correspond to my local machine* even looking in my datastore.sql* just cannot log in* I've set cookie domains to 'localhost' the paths are the same* is there anything else i can try? oh and before you ask... tools.php didn't work* didn't show a page* don't tell me i have to downgrade my php please...
