Insert Image button in Text Editor
 

I am a little confused about the Insert Image function in the text editor.

When you place a URL in the text box using the 'Insert Image' button on the text editor (not Manage Attachments\Upload a file from URL) is the file actually uploaded to your database or attachment folder on your site? Or is the image displayed in the post from the URL where it physically resides?
