Styles Useful Markup for CSS Please...
 

<div>I look at the markup code for vB4 as it stands (since 'm working with ZeldaUniverse.net on their skin conversion) and am not happy. The markup lacks varity in actualyl letting us create dynamic skins* and really* it's not hard to add more versatility...

For example* with the sub title bars* they contain the following:

What's wrong with that? Well lets say I have a title bar that requires two backgrounds. That way* one starts the left side and background* while the other contains the right side to close off the graphic. I can only add one background image for each tag. A fix for this is:

Now* it's true i don't know if <span> should be used within a header tag* but in that case...

Would have fixed that and still be valid. Even in places I know <span> is allowed* it isn't there.

So now I have to really try hard to find a work around for your framework or edit the templates myself. Or I might be able to use replacement variables* but at the servers expense. Lots of extra work then there should be* vB. I had hoped that people you hired would have a good CSS background and have some knowledge of frameworks* but this has me doubtful. Without the ability ot create a design principal-standard style for your default* this just confirms the framework and style aren't important to you.

I was considering getting a license (or upgrade my current) to develop styles for the software and future plugins* but I suppose if a company doesn't take presentation and UI seriously* then I won't take vBulletin seriously. As noted by many others* functionality is awesome and amazing* but unless your style and UI can present the functionality easily* then it's all for loss. At least IPB's framework is easy enough to customize* even if I dislike their UI with a passion.
