Managing database backups I recently suffered a hardware failure* but fortunately* I run nightly backups* so was able to restore. Unfortunately* I lost a couple of hundred messages. The server I'm running is Windows 2008 R2* MySQL 5.1.39. I'm in the process of building a second box* so if I have another issue* I can just point to it. My question is how can I keep the two databases in sync? I'm sure that MySQL has a method of replication* and before i dig into that* I wanted to get in touch with those who might have done it. Additionally* I have access to SQLyog* nad was messing around with that* it has a synchronization tool* but when I try to utilize that* I get "Server is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server." error. My questions. 1) How do you maintain close to realtime backup of your databases? 2) How can I get around the SQLyog error? I'm sure it's a setting somewhere* but I'll be darned if I can find it. I'm trying to allow 192.168.1.20 to access 192.168.1.25. Thanks for any guidance! |
