help with v1.x

I've decided to upgrade from v10* after my webhost suddenly disappeared (and all my web files too)

I have had relative ease in installing the v1.6.

One feature I had on my old site was photos that refreshed randomly on the front page. I have not been able to find this feature in v1.6* so have gone ahead and uploaded FeaturedPhoto. The problem I'm having is that I've placed the Featured Photo box at the top of the BODY.

This placement is leaving an ugly* bare section around the image. See http://panther.arvixe.com/~lacadmin I've downloaded and adjusted the mod's default.tpl file* but v1.6 doesn't seem to recognize this. We deal with photographers alot* so it's important their images are framed properly.

Because my host disappeared* we don't have any website up* so I'm in a hurry to have this one finished off within the next day or two.
