Blogs within forums
 

I posted this in the blog forum already with no response yet* so I apologize for the duplicate post.

My understanding from several "experts" is that blogs are more friendly to search engines than forums. I understand the search engines* like Google* are more likely to see blogs as authoritative.

My question is this...we have a pet community forum in which licensed veterinarians answer questions for pet owners (www.petdocsoncall.com). We are considering upgrading to 4.0 for the blog feature but at the same time* I am worried that a blog within a forum will confuse and confound the search engines. Does anyone know if the search engines will still be able to "see" the blogs within a forum framework and will they give the same weight to a vbulletin blog as they would a "free-standing" blog?

Does that question make sense?
