Censoring Need better spam management* usergroups* something

Hi all*
I've been an avid user of vBulletin for several years now and despite the fact I almost left last year for being falsely accused of pirating the software with a DMCA notice from piracyreports* I stuck with this. However* I'm having a much harder time managing spam and usergroups and it's almost become a part time job dealing with the spammers.

About three months ago it started getting bad. Spammers were posting explicit images on my forum at odd hours of the morning while I was asleep so I'd get into work a few hours later and get all these spam reports on my board from people that were kind enough to report it. Then I'd take the time to move them to a forum that nobody can see so I can get them out of the public eye and handle the user(s) immediately. That takes time because I have to get the IP address* look up where it's from* see if it's overseas or not* check the email address* see if THAT'S legit* ban the user* etc. I mean* this takes a LONG TIME.

Then I started looking into modifying the usergroups and was horrified to see that vBulletin has NOTHING to support restricting posting images except in signatures. I've seen other forums (non-vBulletin) where users can't post images until a certain period of time* or until they posted a certain number of posts. I can't find that option on the admin panel. That's disturbing.

My forums and my podcast are family friendly. When I see something like this* I get angry not only at the spammers* but the fact that vBulletin doesn't have anything in place to set rules for new users so that this can't happen.

And this is where I say that yes* my contract expires very soon and I'm not going to pay another $100 for another year without support from vBulletin on this. I see other people posting the same issues with no resolution. I would think that at the price we're all paying to run this software* we should AT LEAST get anti-spam tools.

So if this doesn't get fixed soon* I'm going to have to consider other options. I have to do this for myself and my community. I can't continue to run a family-friendly site with forum software that doesn't have anti-spam tools.
