Merging users into vBulletin
 

Hi*

firstly* apologies if this is in the wrong place.

I have a website with a couple thousand members with possibility for massive growth of the user base over the next few months.

All users on my site can log in to view extra content and manage bits and pieces (much the same as any normal website). The next step for my site is to include a forum* so I have chosen vBulletin for this purpose.

The thing I am most wanting to do is that to access much of the data on my site* users have to log into their accounts. Is it possible then that when a user logs in to their website account* they are also logged in to vBulletin forum on the site. I don't want my users to have to log into my site* then have to create a user account/log into vBulletin to use that also.

I imagine this would require some form of merging my site user database with the vBulletin database. It would also I think need some work with sessions so that vBulletin acknowledges the user is logged in without having to log into vBulletin also.

Has anyone else done something like this before or can anyone point me in the right direction. I know enough PHP to get by so am not afraid of getting into the code if that is what's needed.
