avatar / thumbnail problem
 

I recently upgraded to 3.8.4.

When I try to link to an image for a social group (or member) avatar* I get: Quote:
Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file.
I have CHMODed the:

customavatars
customavatars/thumbs
customgroupicons
customgroupicons/thumbs

folders to 777. What could be causing this error?

If I instead upload a picture from my local computer* the image is stored* but the system fails to create a thumbnail of the image (for social group icons).

Any ideas on what I need to do to fix this (or how to go about diagnosing the problem)?


FWIW* the system appears to work fine in handling images for member albums.
